DR. BARBARA MOSES

Barbara Green Moses was born and raised in Philadelphia . She still attends the same church she attended as a little girl and is a 30 year veteran educator of the Philadelphia School District . She attended Cheyney State College (BS), Antioch University (M. Ed), and received certifications in Curriculum, Instruction, Supervision and Educational Administration at the University of Pennsylvania . Sensing a deeper call to education, she completed a Doctor of Religious Education Degree from Friends International Christian University .

As a committed Christian, she is dedicated to seeing youth receive a quality education in a caring community while learning the importance of serving others.

"What pushes me forward is the fact that I believed God placed me here to demonstrate his love and to come every morning as an available vessel through whom Christ can work," Dr. Moses said. "One of my biggest joys is seeing the lives of young people changed. They come here one way and graduate totally different."

With the majority of the students coming from outside the Mennonite community, Dr. Moses and the board realize that the school’s primary role right now is as a place of hope within the city. But she is also excited by the prospect of having this school emulate the Mennonite tradition by becoming a light for educational excellence, peacemaking, justice and service. The diverse teaching and experiences the school provides continues to be validated in the school’s 100% college acceptance rate.

Dr. Moses has built relationships with Philadelphia area Christian schools, churches (Mennonite and other denominations), organizations and businesses demonstrating the need for their involvement and prayers in Kingdom Building.
