FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What is our mission?

Providing an excellent Christ-centered education that equips urban students for leadership, service and peacemaking.

What are the requirements for admission?
The admissions process is simple. Fill out and return:
  • the application for admission
  • parental assistance agreement (PAA)
  • a copy of the student's most recent report card and achievement tests (other academic records may be requested)
  • non-refundable $50 application fee
All documents listed above are also available online to fill out or download.

After we receive the necessary documents, we schedule an interview to ensure that parent(s)/guardian(s) and child(ren) understand and are willing to cooperate with the mission and philosophy of the school. Students should have at least a B average in conduct and a C average in academics for admission to PMHS.

What is a Parent Assistence Agreement (PAA)?

This form gives parents an opportunity to be involved with the mission of PMHS. Parental involvement helps us to build a community where our students are safe, educated and spiritually grounded. Because of the numerous opportunities we offer the students, we need parental assistance throughout the year in a variety of areas in order to keep costs down.

Do I have to be a Christian? Do I have to be Mennonite?

No. PMHS admits all qualified applicants regardless of religious beliefs. However, we are a Christian high school and this does require that students be supportive of the stated mission and philosophy of the school.

How much does it cost for a student to attend PMHS?

See our financial scholarship info below and call our office for more details. Families who have a second (or third, etc) child enrolled concurrently at PMHS will receive a 10% discount on the tuition fee for the second (and third, etc) child. In addition, there is an annual non-refundable Student Activity Fee.

Does PMHS offer financial scholarships? How do I qualify?
Yes. After a student is accepted, parents/guardians may request a Financial Scholarship Packet from the school office. We will make every effort to work with your family to help make educating your child at PMHS an affordable part of your budget. Financial scholarship awards for the 2009-10 school year make it possible for a parent/guardian to pay possibly as low as $345/month to as high as $993/month for tuition should your family qualify. It is awarded on a first come first serve basis and must be applied for each year. Call us at 215-769-5363 for details.

Any student receiving a financial scholarship must maintain at least a C average in academics to continue receiving assistance. Parents must also support our Parent Council and commit volunteer hours to events for the benefit of the high school and its students.

After my child enrolls, what do I do if he/she need extra help with their classes?
PMHS offers free tutoring to all of its students after the school day. Each teacher stays after school and spends time with a group of students who need extra instruction. In addition to this, teachers give out their mobile phone numbers so that parents and students can call them after school hours.
