Is PMHS an accredited school?
Do I have to be a Christian and/or a Mennonite to enroll at PMHS?
No! PMHS admits all qualified applicants regardless
of religious beliefs. However, we are a Christian high school and this does require that students be supportive of the stated mission
and philosophy of the school.
How does PMHS prepare its students for leadership, service and peacemaking?
PMHS provides a daily
rigorous academic curriculum designed to prepare the students for the workplace and/or higher education. On Fridays, we provide real
world experiences that prepare them for the opportunities the world will offer and the conflicts that come with living in a diverse
society. They attend education trips, receive conflict resolution training, serve as reading mentors at local elementary schools,
and apprentice in a profession of their choice. Students also participate in local service projects and have the opportunity to travel
abroad to learn about other cultures.
Does PMHS have a computer lab and technology classes?
Yes! PMHS has a lab with computers
equipped with the latest software programs. Students receive classes on how to utilze the internet for research purposes and how to
use programs like Microsoft Word and Powerpoint .
Does PMHS provide athletics and other enrichment activities?
Yes! PMHS currently
provides basketball, track, cheerleading, dance, aikido, chess, drama, arts and crafts, piano, drums, saxophone, public speaking,
sewing, journalism, business, yearbook, Envirothon (science competition against other schools) and a touring choir. We look forward
to increasing our athletic and enrichment activities as we continue to grow.
What does PMHS do for its physical education classes?
We
believe in the importance of fitness and exercise so we contract this part of our program with a nearby YMCA. The students engage
in fitness and athletics (swimming, basketball, track, etc). Along with this, some students take tennis lessons at the Althea Gibson
Tennis Clinic. Chaperones are provided.
How does PMHS engage in spiritual formation?
All staff and faculty assist in the spiritual
development of the students. Specifically the Vice Principal and a small group of students plan twice weekly chapels giving the students
the opportunity to serve their peers. The students also attend Bible, Spiritual Formation, and Life Skills classes (designed to teach Old
and New Testament history, Church History, financial management, social skills, the sanctity of marriage, stewardship, etc).
Does
PMHS offer financial scholarship? How do I qualify?
Yes, we do have a financial scholarship program. After a student is accepted, parents
or guardians may request a Financial Scholarship Packet from the school office. Our financial aid office will make every effort to
work with your family to help make educating your child at PMHS an affordable part of your budget.
Is PMHS convenient to public transportation?
Yes! The
school is located north of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and is served by SEPTA routes #2, #7, #15, #33 and #48.
